Korean ramen is becoming more popular in other countries, due to the popularity of Korean content such as dramas and movies. The demand for Korean food is growing steadily in many countries, and more Korean ramen is appearing on shelves in local stores.

According to the food industry and the Korea Customs Service on the 7th, ramen exports amounted to 383.4 million dollars in the January-June period, up 19.9 percent from the previous high of 319.69 million dollars in the first half of last year.
Exports by country were followed by China ($91.91 million), the United States ($47.86 million), Japan ($33.3 million), Taiwan ($14.83 million), the Philippines ($14.77 million), Thailand ($14.6 million), Malaysia ($13.04 million), Australia ($12.77 million), Canada ($11.59 million), and the Netherlands ($11.3 million).
Ramen exports surged 37.4% from the same period last year in the first half of 2020, when COVID-19 was prevalent, and one factor behind this was the growing demand for instant food, including ramen, as external activities were restricted in each country in the aftermath of "social distancing."
The industry interpreted that the significant increase in ramen exports even in the phase of COVID-19 Endemic says this popularity was not only temporary one.
An official from a food company said, "Thanks to K-content, the demand for K-food is steadily expanding in many countries," adding, "There are more cases of handling Korean ramen on large local distribution channels."
