Starbucks to Exchange Controversial 'Summer Carry Bag' for Drinks After Criticism Over Carcinogens.
Controversy is brewing over allegations that carcinogens have emerged in Starbucks' "Summer Carry Bag" that people exchanged after buying 17 cups of coffee. Starbucks' goods are popular in Korea, so it will be a bolt out of the blue.
Starbucks has worsen the problem because it said it would exchange it for 3 drinks after controversy over carcinogens.
The move comes after a user, who identified himself as an employee of the FITI Test Institute in an anonymous community of office workers, claimed, "I conducted a personal test related to summer carrybags and detected formaldehyde HCHO."
Formaldehyde is classified as a first-class carcinogen designated by the International Cancer Research Institute under the World Health Organization (WHO).
If there were test information in advance, it would have been disclosed immediately, but there could not have been such a procedure in the free gift.
This is a developing story, and not much is known yet. However, it is not looking good for Starbucks. If the allegations are true, it would be a blow to the company's reputation.
